If you're on a LAN, it may be that you've lost your connection to the central computer. I am on a LAN where my internet access is routed through my father's computer (2 for 1...Sweeeet). So if that connection goes down, I get an error similar to the one you've described. That's the only reason I can think of for getting that message.

Hope this helps. But it probably won't (I know dick-all about computers).
