Actually, it is correct. If you hooked up two VCRs to copy a tape, a lot of times you'll gt the brighter/darker thing. Then you'll playback your copy to see it's shit. This is to stop illegal copying.
They don't want you copying DVDs to VHS either, so if your DVD player (or playstation 2) are hooked into your VCR, you'll get this effect often.
