I should mention [in case you missed it when the book was originally released to (or on?) the public,] my daughter and I wrote this book Saturday when we decided to start teaching the youngest to read. Normally I wouldn't make a beginning reader so dark, but my daughter got angry when I told her that we had to use all small words (I guess she felt I was interfering w/her creative process.) which brought about Sam's untimely demise.

Tom had a vision for the illustration and was kind enough to bring it to life.

Now that Kevin has given his review, I believe I'm going to print some and provide them to all the kindergartners at my kids' school. If they're traumatized - oh well, they have to learn about death sometime.
