: I was wondering where you got the idea for characters such as Steve-Dave and Fanboy, and also why you chose the three hockey/rollerbladers to be the daemon Azrael's henchmen in Dogma.

Steve-Dave is an amalgamation of everyone the fanboy admires- he stands up for himself, he's outspoken, he's a geek, but he's forceful. He's basically the worst parts of the bully and the best parts of the geek.

The fanboy is any geeky fanboy hanging around a comic shop. He's got quips, but they suck. His main purpose is to admire the Steve-Dave and make him look stronger.

As for the daemon Azrael, he's a demon. A daemon is a program, a demon is a fallen angel. The demon Azrael has street-hocky triplets for his henchmen because no one is more ruthless than a street-hockey player, except rugby players, grocery baggers, boy scouts, old ladies crossing the street, lost puppies, goldfish, the deaf kid at the elementary school who gives away his money so he won't get beat up, and the Scots.
