to extend his point, it's not just annoying to see the gleeful criticism because it's too MEAN (although admittedly it is), but also because so-called movie "critics" and the intelligent cinema going public as a whole should be profoundly depressed by the fact that films like Gigli get made.
We shouldn't be saying "hahah, look at how God awful this crap is, isn't it funny?" , we should be saying "oh dear, what are we doing? has it really come to this? how can we avoid this kind of crap in the future?"
This goes for society as a whole as well. We need to buck the trend of shallowness and focus-group, manufactured, money motivated films and music, and bring some soul back into the arts.
