OK, I see your point here, but I'm not sure I agree. To me, any movie that can't crack the top three during the dog days of summer constitutes 'tanked.' And despite a big dropoff, FvJ is STILL beating Open Range.
As for the rest...well, we will see. If Open Range has legs, it'll pick up more box office...but it's got a pretty big hole to crawl out of vs FvJ. And the film rental percentage will be lower for later weeks.
I'm thinking, however, that based on performance to date the FvJ producers are a lot happier than Open Range's.
