I just read that they are going to re-release the extended cuts of TWO TOWERS and FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING back into limited theaters as a marketing gimick for RETURN OF THE KING. Still a pretty damn cool gimick. apparently the night before RETURN OF THE KING opens a few theaters will show the entire extended cut triology

so you buy tickets in advance, bring a bedpan, a big gulp, goobers and a huge thing of popcorn and sit through

3 1/2 hour cut of FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING
then you sit for the nearly 4 hour cut of TWO TOWERS
then two towers ends at 11pm. Right from then you get to be the first person in the country to watch RETURN OF THE KING.

Could be fun, no?
