My last short film was a disaster, as the guy I was working with screwed up the editing and had no idea how to put the soundtrack on. I think if you want it done right you have to put the extra time in. It's bloody annoying, but it's worth it.
If these guys are reliable (even though they did this one blunder) and are willing to work for you, that's worth a lot more than someone who'll pretend to l;ove it then completely screw you over at the last second.
: Hey Kevin,
: You're sounding so mellow now'days!
: Here's a quick question.
: Was art director on a lil' short black film last week.
: Well, what happened, goes something like this. I really really thought I thoroughly explained how to cut out stencils (yes it's petty I know) I'd pain stakingly drawn up, freehand even, to apply chalk to a floor, the day after. Yes I know beer was involved but when I arrived the clever guys had cut the paper in reverse and thrown out the main pieces...AHHH!!!
: Please oh great all knowing one, any advice on how to deal with this type of situation. I mean I was very nice about it and took the murphy's law approach, ala, taking an extra half day to do it again. Any suggestion other than working with someone else? Other than this inconvenience, I love doing this and the guy's are so clever, imaginative, good with their camera's an' the like.
: Kevin, please help with suggestions on directing.
: Do I punch them out next time and tell them their idiots? Only trouble being, I'm a 5ft 4'1/2" girl/woman, of substance ;).
: Now thinking, I just answered my own question 99. If I want something done properly, do it myself? Yes? Hmmm. But where's the fun in that? It sort of self gratifying but it's much better with other people involved!
: (Actually that reminds me of your very own last postings. Wink Wink, say no more ;D)
:
: Noticed "La Mer" was used as the last song in "Finding Nemo".
: I was right!!! the most used lift music EVER AND the story's set in my luvlee ocean...woah!
: Anything new happening in your home town you'd like to let us know about?
: Cheers,
: A.
