You're right, dude was in the wrong. He should have been driving a legal car.
But here's what irks me to no end.
You said sure he had his rights violated, but he deserved it.
Fuck no!! No one ever deserves to have their rights violated. Ever. Not once. Because then I can say, Because the woman was wearing a mini skirt and crotchless panties and she invited the guy up to her place and then fooled around with the guy, then she started having sex with him, Then she changed her mind. Wll then it's ok the guy violated her rights then, she was doing something stupid.
Not a close enough analogy for you, how about this. Can you rape a hooker? She's breaking the law. Can the cops beat her. Can they harrass her. At what point or what level do you say that's going too far in violating her rights. And who should decide that. And really which rights are more important than others, and who should decide that.
