I don't know if this exists, so pardon my ignorance if it does (and if it does post the site as I have never heard of it before).

I think someone should make a new IMDB. But instead of it being the Internet Movie Database, it should be the Internet Music Database. Obviously they would have to come up with another name but I think it would be a great idea.
It could list songs and albums by each artist. Make a breakdown of any band members (past, present and guest - i.e. compilation stuff). It would be a great way to track down songs by artists in obscure soundtracks and things like that.
It could be similar in style and functionality to IMDB.

Now the problem would obviously lie in that there are a lot of bands out there who would want to be included (including Joe Nobody's band who practise in mom and dad's garage and say they are in a band to impress women) so there would have to be stipulations of some sort.

Just an idea.
