Not that not reading the book makes you a homophobe, but I'd say people that see movie versions of books and never read said book are more likely to take the popular opinion and stereotypical notions of pop-culture as personal gospel.

The homosexual 'subtext' of their attraction to each other is ridiculous.
There are no female members of Project Mayhem, yet we see women in almost every realistic cult (Patty Hearst, etc.).
I've never read any other book of his....mainly because I could only find Hardbacks and I don't like to spend $25 bucks to read anything.
