and I realized that there isnt any other way to submit art or stories except for epic. This does not bode well for aspiring creators, neither does the number of reprints and graphic novels being released. I knew there was an industry slump but, strangely, I think the quality of work being put out by marvel has been a lot better in the past two years than it was through most of the nineties. It just sucks for people trying to break into comics, but again its probably a good thing for the readers since the companies have been forced to streamline the number of titles they can put out and only keep the best artists and writers. I'll bet thats why Marvel seems to have scrapped their regular submissions policy and switched totally to work-for-hire projects. No contracts, no promises, and minimal pay, and switch all their marketing to a few top-tier writers and artists and trade paperbacks. It makes good business sense I guess, but again it really blows goats if youre a no-name penciler or writer. Im glad I gave up trying to be a penciler, luckily I wasnt all that good in the first place lol.
