Thoughts on JG trailer: it's all up to Affleck.

Well, I wasn't expecting to get a rush out of it the way I do with the sort
of trailer that uses "O Fortuna".
That said, good stuff. I immediately warmed to the Liv Tyler character.
Affleck seemed like he was making an effort. J-Lo's presence
unfortunately irritates me to no end.
I think it was a smart move to make it clear that this is not a movie
about Affleck/J-Lo romance. Initially it seemed that they were going to
try to ride that wave, but this is a better choice in my mind.
I liked the joke at the end -- "What are your intentions?" I just wish
this trailer had shown more of the Jersey Girl herself, since Smith
says she does such a good job. We'll see.
Visually -- I was surprised at the number of 'darker' locations/shots.

Things that worry me:
(1) Presence of J-Lo. Sorry, the hype has gotten to me.
(2) I don't buy Affleck as a parent -- BUT, I think that's sort of the point.
He's a guy who's only learning to be a father, and the fact that he
doesn't look or act like the sort of actor you cast as "Daddy"
contributes to that.

That, actually, I think, is what could really make this movie great.
Affleck, let's face it, gets typecast, due to being the bomb in
"Phantoms". If he can get the audience to follow him on as he
becomes a convincing "Daddy" character... make us forget all his
typical-Affleck roles... we could have a winner on our hands.

My two cents.
