: you're a closed-minded dick :)
I can't deny that.
: or a tool of the collective record industry.
Not really. I just respect the need for them to make money and one of the things they do with it is develop new artists - hopefully ones that are better than the people you mention below. I know the evidence isn't overwhelming though...
: do you hear any good music on the radio these days?
: at all?
Not many. I do listen to specialist shows if I can.
: all i hear are britney spears, eminem, 50 cent and justin timberlake.
: i despise all of these people, their music anyway.
I can't blame you for that.
: how is the average consumer gonna get a sample of alt. rock nowadays?
Magazines, websites, gigs, word of mouth from like-minded friends and going into your local record shop and talking to the people who work there.
: file-sharing.
That is of course an option.
: and, i might add, i've bought almost every album i've sampled,
: except the ons that sucked,
: which no longer reside on my hard drive.
And I applaud you for it - the thing is, you're in the vast minority. If everyone who downloaded music apllied the same level of honesty, there wouldn't be a problem...
