: Hey everybody, long time no post.
: I see a lot of new names that I don't recognize, so hi to all y'all. Alright, on to something that I've been thinking about for a while:
: Quite a few people around here have an interest in making films, but for most of us the cost factor is the largest obstacle. The idea I have (and I'm probably not the first) is for a different sort of film school. As it stands, we can drop a grip of cash on one of the established schools out there or take the gamble and hope to be admitted to Sundance. While that's all well and good, it's not for all. What I have in mind is more of a film maker's "library": access to cameras, lenses, DAT, and editing equipment. I, for one, am not particularly interested in a certificate saying I attended X number of classes; I'd just enjoy the opportunity to make a picture without being totally in debt. Obviously it would take quite a few people spending, for the sake of argument, a few grand apiece. However, it seems to me that there are far more people who could afford that.
: I know that Kev and the VA folks have a lot on their plates and this is possibly the last thing in the world they'd consider, but this is the group of people who'd be perfect to at least look into the possibility. It'd be pretty awesome to be able to learn things from Kev, Brian, Scott, et al. Yeah, it's a longshot...but I wanted to see if there was any interest among the regular posters.
: Anyway, this turned into a longer post than I intended. Looking forward to seeing some of you people in Dallas at the con!
: Later,
: Blake
