The closest me and my bros do is playing "soccer" in the back garden- My younger bro is Christian Vieri, my older bro is Ronaldo and I'm Robert Green in goal, Harry Kewell when I play outfield.
: okay, so this past wednesday I went to the movies with my partner and our two old lady moms. We ended up going to a theater in Delaware because my mom lives on the Jersey side of the Delaware Memorial Bridge. For those of you unfamiliar with this state, Delaware is the as close as you can get to a hillbilly bible belt on the north-eastern coast. I'm talking trailers and rednecks and inbreeding, all done under the watchful eye of the lord. Praise be.
: anywhoooo
: Even in hillbilly country, there were some strange goings on at the theater this night. I first started noticing that many of the folks filing in had on black leather trench coats and slightly unusual sunglasses. The next striking thing was when one of these matrix-dressed guys came in, turned towards the entrance, and stood there motionless, legs slightly apart, for about 5 minutes. It really was that long. Then, suddenly, another similarly dressed man came walking through the entrance, and loudly greeted the statue guy with "good evening, mr anderson." Moments later, the two were involved in a full-out choreographed fight sequence, right in the middle of the room. Some way-tall guy dressed as Morpheous had some trouble getting past them in order to buy his tickets. 7 or 8 other Neo's slid by them without a problem. The oracle must have known better, because she turned and went right back outside and began puffing on a cigarette.
: I really don't know why I care about this, or even if I really do. I guess I am always amazed at how deeply involved in things people become, to the point of role-playing even. I have always been fascinated by folks who role-play. I think that's why I dig the rennasiance fair in rural PA. I don't go to watch the shows so much as I am there to take in the every day people walking around in chartacter all day.
: I have a theory that people who role play are incredibly bright. I think that maybe it's hard for them to give outlet to their massive brain power, so they do things like role-playing to challenge themselves and produce layered worlds of existance for themselves. Or maybe it's a form of escapism from their constantly-chugging brains.
: I'd totally love any feedback on this. As I said, I am fascinated. I can imagine myself pretending to be Kevin Smith, but not to experience his world so much as just a way to touch my junk and pretend that it is his.
: Wow. I sure do ramble on Saturdays.
