: Forgive my ignorance, but why are CGC Graded comics so important? What is the
big deal about them?
~ there have been so many arguments about CGC and the price step up when the
comics are graded, that it's really becoming a bit of a stigma. I have mine bagged
and boarded and have yet to buy a CGC rated comic because I like access to
reading them. I even knew a guy who bought them in their CGC plastic and opened
them and bagged and boarded them after he had read them. There is a beauty to a
VF/NM comic from 1960, and there's no arguing about that. The idea of paying 300
dollars for a comic from 1988 because it's CGC 9.8 is crazy but many collectors
don't think so. Here's a link you might enjoy.
