: 1) Did you ever realize that the first line of dialogue spoken to Bethany is "Jesus, can't you
do something?" Is that a happy little accident that Bethany's heritage is addressed in the
very first line, or was it planned?
The latter.
: 2) What has been your best experience shooting a movie so far?
"Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back", hands-down.
: 3) What kept you going between the time that you graduated high school and made
'Clerks'?
I had no clue I wanted to be a filmmaker, so life was bliss.
: Like, was there a definite feeling that you were going to someday 'make it' somehow, or
was there a lot of fear? I don't think I'm phrasing the question correctly, but I hope you get
what I mean.
I follow.
Back in those days, I wanted to be a writer. Wanted to write for "Saturday Night Live" so
badly. That dream died, and a few years later, the film thing just kinda happened.
: 4) Could you ever see yourself writing an animated film (other than 'Clerks: SO')?
Not really.
: 5) Do you think you'll ever try to take a crack at a novel?
I hope not.
: Thanks a million, Kev. I had a blast at my hour in the Bash. I couldn't stay for the bowling
party, but next time.
Oh, the bowling alley was sweet.
