I think most people didn't like it because they didn't understand it, much like Reloaded. I've watched Reloaded about 15 times before i saw Revolutions and i listened carefully to what they were saying, and it made perfect sense in Revolutions.
The first Matrix is about destiny, you can't escape it.
Reloaded was Neo questioning the reason for it and struggling with the thought that if we have destiny how can we be free? What really is power and what is control?
Revolutions answered that question completely... There is great significance to Neo saying " because i choose to " in the final fight with Smith. ( this is all beside the philosophy... this more about depth)
I might of not explained it that well but just listen carefully to the conversations between smith and Neo in both movies.
