After Stephen King had that accident, he went back to writing the first draft using a Schaeffer and a legal pad (we don't get decent legal pads here - I always stock up when I visit the US...). My first novel was writtern in black ball point on UK civil service issue paper, all 134,000 words!

At the end of the day, it's your brain that does the writing - everything else is purely mechanical.
