I'm 16, and I'm an aspiring filmmaker. We met at the stash bash on sunday. I was wearing a Pittsburgh Pirates '79 World Championship t-shirt (saw you looking at it while I was waiting to talk to you, so don't pretend you don't remember).
I'm starting to build my portfolio a bit more to get into college, but more importantly it's just a good idea to get practice now. I wanna shoot some stuff on digital, naturally, but I don't wanna find myself in the common situation where I'm just fucking around with my friends, so I'm trying to organize a well-planned shooting schedule with rehearsals, a shot list, the works.
My dillema is, I'm not comfortable with my writing as of now. It's looking better, but I don't think I'ts as ready as I want it to be.
Something I might want to do was find those books filled with dialogues and monologues that teenagers use to get into LaGuardia and for other general auditions, and to just adapt them. I figure, directing somebody elses writing is definitely a different experience, but at least I'll have some practice behind the camera.
Do you recommend I go ahead with this or just bite the bullet and film my own stuff?
Also, JG looks really great. It reminded me of Jerry Maguire. From the looks of it now, you should be really proud of yourself.
And as I said last time, you're going in the right direction with that trailer. That level of subtlety regarding Ben and Jen works perfectly.
