: If spending a great deal of time and energy to stage a tribute to one of Kevin Smith's movies ends up getting some attention and notice from the powers that be, then that's a good thing, even if it's shut down.
Uhm. Yeeeeeeeeah.
It's nice to get the kind of attention that sounds like "if you don't stop immediately, we're gonna sue the shit out of you".
Yeah. That's... I don't even have words.
: Because had we given up as you suggested, then nothing at all would have come from that. And again, I remind you, we're not "making our careers" off this production. We're not making money at all. It's a non-profit theater.
Less than nothing came from this. The guy you were trying to "pay tribute to" by stealing his material had his lawyer cut you a C&D letter. A C&D letter!
And money ain't a thing, you're piggybacking Kevin's writing and his reputation without permission, that's worse than making money off it. It sounds more and more clear that this was all a shot at an attention grab... or that you guys are honestly a little bit crazy.
And either way, why would Kevin's people want to directly contact you?
You still haven't said who "gave" you "permission".
