It's not a project, it's a hurdle. Once passed said hurdle, you can accomplish the project.

A lot of people still haven't seen Clerks. And people who have seen stage productions of Rent and Phantom still go back and see it whenever they can. True, these are great works, but everything is based off of something else, so saying "seen it" doesn't always mean you don't want to see it's next incarnation.

Or maybe the people who would have written like that anyway have found a common ground for others like them. There are people like who you mentioned who do it for lack of original ideas, or to mimic for the sake of whatever, and that is sad, but don't lump EVERYONE into that category.
