Pettitte's wins are inflated because he plays for the Yanks. Mussina's are inflated because he has played for a hell of a long time, even if mostly for a shitty team.
It's not about being upstaged. First off, Pettitte will probably sign with the Astros. Second of all, Mussina will still be number one in spirit ... but soon enough Vazquez will be number one. Vazquez is the future of this team. A Number One starter after Mussina retires.
Yeah, Vazquez walked a lot of players, but that's what power pitchers do when they're young. He didn't walk a TON last year. He only walked 17 more batters than Moose, while striking out almost 50 more.
He already is one of the dominant pitchers of the league.
I don't understand why we're arguing ... don't you like the Yankees?
