X-Men 2 structured like a comic book...?

I just saw X2 last night on video. I thought it was great, but there was something ...*different* about it. I couldn't quite place it, but it seems that the structure of the story played out like a comic book, rather than the typical movie you see these days.

I told my brother this, and he asked what the fuck I meant by that. I didn't have an answer.

So, is it just me? Does X2 play like most other movies out there? Did anyone else notice something *different?*
