It's not that I haven't, on occasion, attempted to watch a few reality TV shows. The Surreal Life comes immediately to mind; I had to find out what Vince Neil, MC Hammer, Webster, and Corey Feldman were going to be like, all living in a house together. The answer was... whiny and annoying. I made it through 2 episodes. And I watched about 10 minutes of the season opener this year, as well - Tammy Faye Bakker (or whatever her new name is) on a bus with Ron Jeremy, shortly thereafter joined by Erik Estrada... well, I didn't even make it to them making it to the house.
Fear Factor - gross and stupid.
Survivor - abysmally stupid.
Joe Millionaire - sexist and stupid.
Surviving Nugent - briefly amusing, but ultimately stupid. It was only entertaining watching the morons show up not having a clue who the Nuge was, nor what they'd gotten themselves into. Once they actually started having to survive Nugent, it got really lame, really quick.
And the list just goes on. I've never make it through more than 2 episodes of any of them.
Reality television makes bank on the fact that most people like to see what people like themselves would do in a funky situation, or what happens to celebrities in an unpleasant situation.
OK! We've got the point, already! Can we watch something INTELLIGENT, now?
And Farscape was cancelled so they could show that fucking Sci-Fi reality TV show with Shannon Dougherty? Yeah, OK, liked her as Renee, but I'm never going to forgive Sci-Fi for that. I shudder to think of all the shows that have been tanked in favor of yet another reality program. ARGH. It just pisses me off so much! Most of these shows I wouldn't watch unless money literally came out of the TV every 10 minutes as a reward!
