Hey Kevin…
Huge fan… Chasing Amy was the movie that made me know I wanted to be a film maker. I’m in the process of making my first movie at the moment, I got over the whole fact that someone would magically come along and offer me millions of dollars to make a movie so I’ve gone into funding my own little piece. It’s costing me close to nothing thanks to a production company I’ve been doing volunteer work for who have offered to lend me their mini DV camera (think it cost them around 30,000 to purchase) and editing tools plus a lot of other stuff. My plan is to enter it into as many film festivals as possible and hope it makes it on the list, then with that credit and experience go on to make a big budget movie (my idea of a big budget at the moment is around a low six figure mark or high five figure). I’m hoping to get a grant from the Australian Film Commission through one of the producers I’ve been working with. He loves this new script I’m working on and said he’s willing to do anything he can to help. The Aus Film Commission offer up to 800,000. I was just wondering if you could give me any advise? I’m nervous as hell about shooting this first movie and I’m feeling very unorganised even though I’m ahead of schedule. I’m just waiting for something to go wrong.
You are a true inspiration to me, and thanks for the great entertainment. Can’t wait for the Australian release of Jersey Girl, it’s going to be a toss up between that and Kill Bill Volume 2 for best movie of 2004 for me.
You rock….
