I'm at Uni in the UK. We have two semesters a year. We have two weeks of the first Semester left, which started at the beginning of the academic year. We then get a two week break before the second semester starts. We also break up for Christmas and Easter for 3 weeks each and get a reading week per Semester, which no one really works through. Basically it's a lot of time not in lectures in general.
