Ruddy heck, guv. That's a lotta info, me old mucker.
: : : : : Can anyone reccomend a good laptop for me? I want one with a printer, preferably with hard disk space. I'm not bothering with games as this is for my work.

: : : : I would have to say if you buy an IBM go a T series....mmm T41p.... but im in tech support for them.

: : : : All laptops from now should have atleast a 40gig hdd and as for your printer you would do it from a usb connection and every laptop made in the last 2 years should have that.

: : Cenrino actually means that a laptop is wireless 802.11b capable and a pentium 4 processor.

: : If you do go down the path of wireless get a 802.11 a/b/g capable card. a is nice but not needed, everything is compatible with b, and g is the latest at the moment. a new standard would be out by the end of the year i expect.

: : bluetooth is ok but its really a novelty at the moment and nothing much more. Get a gigabit ethernet onboard NIC 10/100/1000, you dont need to but by the time you get another laptop you would pretty much be using 1000/gigabit by then as a standard.

: : usb 2.0 but every laptop should have that...there isnt much i could say thats groundbreaking at the moment. Id also suggest going a 80gig drive just for the reason of when you upgrade again....

: : Apart from that everything else is about the warranty. The LCD panel and motherboard cost more to replace combined then the entire machine. As for non-ibm laptops.... i think alienware is cool but dont know the specs.

: Video - look for something that has like a mobile raedon card, not something with onboard video as it will share your resources. And find out the max ram the machine supports (get something that supports DDR) and consider seriously about doubling stock or maxing it out. Really.

: Or you could be limp and buy a mac :P but www.pvponline.com is a pretty good idea of how mac is considered by serious computer users. Ok poke me with a fork im done.
