The main reason behind Emo bands' lack of support (as opposed the genre, which - as has been stated - has been around longer than grunge) is that the bands, on an individual basis, only produce one widely-recognizable song or album, or - due to creative differences, personal or professional problems, lack of funds, whatever - simply fall out of the limelight or break apart completely. There are no real great Emo bands to date that have stuck around for more than a couple of years, most of which who are simple one hit wonders whose famous song is quickly replaced by another Emo band's song that's identically catchy, but generally has the same basic demeanor and theme.
