: I just received an email from newsaskew that has an attachment. Now, my memory sucks, I can barely remember what I did this past weekend, but I don't remember sending them anything. Has anyone else received anything similar?

The recent versions of MYDOOM and some other viruses send themselves in messages that appear to be from legitimate domains. It's happened to my website. I even got an e-mail containing a virus supposedly from my own website. They tend to use fake usernames though, like the e-mail I got was from fred@brendoman.com, which doesn't exist. Hopefully this will die down sometime soon, because it causes all sorts of bounce messages, which also contain the virus. Just don't open any attachments unless you absolutely know for certain it's safe. I'd also advise against using Outlook and Outlook Express. If you do, be sure to disable the preview pane.
