To put it simply, "grunge" is like taking heavy metal & slowing it down some. Infusing a heavier rocking sound with (for example) the sound of 70's rock & roll bands (Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Free, etc.) gives grunge its flavor.
: Nirvana's sound is absolutely nothing like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden or Alice & Chains.
They all had specific sounds, but they were all based in grunge.
: Jewel came out in the grunge era, doesn't make her grunge :)
Please don't mention her. I'm still trying to get over her letting that guy (boyfriend, hubby, whatever) 'go to town' on her in that MTV video booth.
