: For the life of me, I can’t figure out why promoting a movie by using its writer/director’s name is a bad thing. I know that Kevin has expressed resistance to having his name highlighted on promotional materials for his flicks and has even taken ridicule for the bit on the Jersey Girl poster, but I don’t get it.
: I happen to like Kevin Smith movies, and his involvement alone is enough to get me to give it a look. It’s the same with recording artists, authors, etc., so does anyone have a legitimate argument why this is bad?
: It would certainly be great if the art could stand on its own merit, but if you’ve found an artist whose work you appreciate, then why not have that information flagged in advance? Lord knows there are far too many movies, songs, books, etc. to sample everything, so shouldn’t history account for something?
