id say that all art is communal - belongs to the community. the only
reason for names/labels is for credit or a check. And yes that does
take away from the art because some focus, even if only a small
amount, is taken away from the work. the very need for identification
by artist or audience, undermines the intention of the art, or ART in
general
somebody said, "worship the art not the artist" and while not exactly
what we're talking about I think the spirit of the quote applies. (sorry
icant remember who said it)
