I've been to Italy every Summer for the last three years and a round-trip plane ticket from Atlanta to London to Naples and back is usually around $1100. That IS in the Summer when tickets are steepest, mind you. 5k sounds like enough to go anywhere to me, though. But then I love travel and I'd reccomend going for it no matter what. Also watch out for the Euro (or Sterling if in England)-- last Summer's exchange rates were NOT in the favor of an American.
Italy or London, definitely.
