: But people like Tie Domi and Marty McSorley aren't employed for their hockey-playing abilities - they're thugs.

This is very true, they are. But they enforce by puffing up their chests and fighting the other thugs, not coming from behind and giving a face full of glove. (Well, except McSorley, of course, with the stick swinging and what-have-you).

I know that there are hits from behind, high sticks, etc. but they are almost always borderline and result due to... what's the word I'm looking for... actions that are in the game anyways?

I know I didn't articulate that right. What I'm trying to say is that if Darcy Tucker hip checks Mike Peca, it's low and Peca breaks his leg (or whatever injury he got from that hit) at least checking is a part of the game, and it's debatable if Tucker meant to injure. If Todd Bertuzzi hits Steve Moore and knocks him out, it was obviously premeditated and there is an obvious intent to injure.

Alright, alright, I don't know how to word what I'm thinking. In the end, though, I'm sure we can all agree that it will be interesting to hear what the Colorado fans have to say the next time Bertuzzi is in town. Likely similari to the all-star game this year.
