No interview with Kevin, but some nice ones with Ben, Liv, & Raquel woven in with scenes from the movie.
Some of the text is below (spoilers -- it pretty much tells half the story...), but you can watch it online (no spoilers, just interviews).
Following their legendary flop, "Gigli," the film "JerseyGirl" sees Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez reunite on screen for about five minutes.
In the new film, director Kevin Smith kills off Lopez's character during childbirth.
The film then focuses on Ollie Trinke, (Ben Affleck) a smooth andsuccessful Manhattan music publicist who seems to have it all. When his perfect life is suddenly tragically upended - leaving him as a single father unqualified for the role he snaps. Before long Ollie's big city life is a memory. Out of a job and out of luck, he reluctantly moves in with his father (George Carlin) back home to the New Jersey suburb where he was raised. Affleck's character remains in an unexciting, dead-end job, he sees no way out and no way back to the life he used to love.
But he adores his young daughter Gertie (Raquel Castro), and she loves their life in the 'burbs. While renting Gertie's favorite movie for the zillionth time one day, Ollie meets Maya (Liv Tyler), who challenges his priorities and perspective.
So what was Affleck most proud of, with this new movie?
"Well I am really pleased for Kevin who I think really grew as afilm maker, made a really mature movie. It still appeals, and it still is his kind of , kind of contrary sensibility. Anti-authoritarian sensibility but yet it is really about coming to terms with fatherhood. Kevin's father passed away. He has had a daughter and he is in this point in his life and he has made a movie that is extremely personal and I am really proud that I think he got to achieve his vision of that."
Affleck says he was looking forward to watching the film with those close to him.
"I am thrilled, I haven't seen it. We had a couple of test screenings and that was really fun, but those people were surprised, they did not know they were going to see it. But this is with friends and family and people who I want to share it with, so it is a really nice night for me."
Since his highly publicized split from fiancee Jennifer Lopez, his private life has been mostly out of the gossip columns. So how does Affleck feel about being out of the public eye.
"I wouldn't say out of my face. It is nice to have things quieting down a little bit and have focus be on a movie rather than on my personal life or any one else's personal life. I think that is how it should be in general because who cares about the other stuff. Actors are interesting, if they are interesting at all, for the movies they make in my opinion."
On the red carpet, Liv Tyler said she enjoyed working on a light-hearted film.
"I really enjoyed getting to work with everyone on the movie, it was really fun and touching. It was really fun to do a comedy after being in Lord of the Rings for so long. I played Arwen for so long that is was fun for me to be in a comedy."
Raquel Castro, who plays Affleck's daughter Gertie in the film, was thrilled to be on the red carpet.
"I never went to a movie premiere ever so it is really really really cool, and everybody is calling your name and everybody is taking your picture, so its really cool."
"Jersey Girl" opens in theatres across North America on March19, 2004.
