I found this very deep and meaningful to my life, I am sure many of you will see how close to home this great piece of work hits.
Sorghum Day Prayer
By Clark Baker, O'Fallon Missouri.
Submitted by Clifford and Margaret Heil of Cobden, Illinois.
Our Heavenly Father,
We thank you for the soil that nourishes the cane,
as your word nourishes our souls.
We thank you for the rain that quenches the thirst of the cane,
as your wisdom quenches our thirst for knowledge.
We thank you for the sunshine that warms the cane,
as your Spirit warms our hearts.
We thank you for the seeds that are renewed from each year's crop,
as your teachings have renewed our faith.
We thank you for the fellowship of the family and friends gathered here today, as this cane you have provided is turned into sweet sorghum.
Please guide the hands of the skimmers as they remove the bitterness from the sorghum, as your love removes the bitterness of hatred from our lives.
Please keep the fire steady as it tempers the sorghum,
as your patience tempers our hearts with compassion.
Please bless the sweet sorghum made here today so that it may bring joy and happiness to those who eat it, as you have brought joy and happiness to our lives.
Amen
Way to go Clark, you really put all of my Sorghum thoughts to words, quite beautifully.
