MrsRiddler89 and I were fortunate to attend the Paulsboro screening of Jersey Girl. Plain and simple, Jersey Girl is a great movie! Forget the Bennifer hype, forget the Gigli threats, Jersey Girl holds it's own as a teriffic film and neither of these elements can bring it down.
Jersey Girl is an emotional picture. I laughed and sometimes had to keep from crying. In the end, I looked at MrsRiddler89 in a whole new way of love and respect. This is definitely a movie for committed couples to see together.
It was very cool to watch Jersey Girl with the town that helped create it. It was fun to hear them applaud as they recognized things on the screen. I personally was proud to see images of Highlands (including the Twin Lights) and Parkway Exit 117\the Keyport Water tower because I live by those places.
Weirdest moment of the night was when the Paulsboro High School Auditorium was shown on the screen - it was like looking in a mirror since we were sitting right there! You don't get many chances in life to see a movie in a place where it was made with the director present.
Lastly, the one moment that sticks out in my mind was from the Q&A. I already learned and knew what a great guy Kevin was from my visit to the Stash Bash. I've seen his interaction on this board and the great lengths he goes to to give back to his fans. But last night he blew me away. The Paulsboro Fire Department will be auctioning an autographed fire helmet on eBay to raise funds for needed equipment, possibly a Jaws-of-Life or a Thermal Imaging Camera. The Chief thanked Kevin for helping in the effort. In response, Kevin told the chief that he'd match the price the helmet sells for. As a firefighter myself, I am extremelty amazed and thankful for people like Kevin who go out of their way to provide for the safety of others.
Keep an eye out for that helmet on eBay and save some money to see Jersey Girl - it is very much worth it!
