My aunt's from Johnstown. Small world, huh?
: 1. Miramax has just handed you The Green Hornet. Any ideas as far as casting goes?
Nothing anywhere near to set in stone.
: 2. How does Jersey Girl measure up to your previous work with such highly esteemed and genious intellectual comedies like Chasing Amy, and Dogma?
It's his best yet.
There might be people who would argue that saying something important about parenthood and figuring out the difference between who you are and who you think you are... isn't as deep or interesting or meaningful as writing about something like love & gender identity or instituitonal faith vs. spiritual fulfillment.
But they're wrong. Just because something's been talked about for a long time... doesn't mean that there isn't a lot more to say. What he says, what the project says, is more beautiful more heartfelt and more honest than anything we've seen in a long time.
It measures up really well.
: 3. Really no more Jay and Bob??? Ever??? (*tear*)
They'll live on in the animated projects, with a little luck.
: 4. The role in Jersey Girl you wrote for George Carlin, of Bart Trinke, why change the successful short, practically cameo roles of his in Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back? and how was he able to pull off such an emotional role?
Carlin's had those chops for a long long time. He's deserved a shot at a mostly-dramatic role of substance since long before Keanu.
Have you read his books? There's the sad and serious soul of a bleeding heart who was failed by the damned human race and its idiocy under the funny.
