I know what you mean about the enjoyment of writing scripts - very satisfying, and my favourtite creative outlet. I have a different problem to yours with writing my current script (which happens to be my first - I was more of a songwriter before this).
I'm about 20-25 pages in at the moment, and have been stuck at this point for god knows how long - not because of a writers block or not knowing what to write (I have plenty of ideas, and pretty much the whole movie mapped out in my head). I have a problem with time. What with work for 5 days of the week, and other commitments i have in the evenings and weekends, i rarely get time to sit down and have a good go at it. When i do do get a free evening to do it - i'm either so bushed from work that i can't think straight (and therefore, if its not gonna be my best work - why bother?), or the time i do have is so limited that by the time I've started and gotten into the right frame of mind, its time to stop.
My advise to you - give it a rest for at least a couple of days, and maybe when you go back to it with a clearer head - inspiration will come. Alternatively, maybe talk about it with friends, and kinda brainstorm possible endings.
Good luck my friend.
: The Good:
: Am on page 74 of my script Hollywood Romance. Have had the time of my life writing it to date.
: The Bad
: Am stuck on page 74 of my script Hollywood Romance. Have had the time of my life writing it to date. Not quite sure how to reach the end.
: The Ugly
: Am stuck on page 74 of my script Hollywood Romance. Have had the time of my life writing it to date. The speed with which I was writing (74 pages in five days) is gone.
: Perspective:
: It took Kevin Smith a year and a half to write the last 110 odd pages of Jersey Girl.
: Conclusion
: I love script-writing. To me there are few things more fun (but they are a lot more fun) than sitting at a computer and writing down fiction with a hint of truth. Bringing characters to life via this medium is incomparable to anything else. When it goes well, it gives you a buzz like nothing else. When it doesn't, you feel angry and easily irritable. Writing a script is a rollercoaster, and one that is seldom ever boring.
