Trends come and go, and sure, bunches of names have been trendy over the years.
However, the current trendy batch of Dylans and Codys and whatevers are getting annoying, so people have resorted to making names up. I don't know which is worse - a trendy name or a name that isn't even a fucking name.
Simply creating a name to give your child is like going to the tattoo shop and picking something off of flash. It's something that can become either the greatest thing ever, or the very bane of your existence... and that means forever. Randomness for the sake of randomness is just plain silly. It conveys a real "rebel without a clue" mentality.
That's just what I think, anyway.
