: So guys I'm going to L. A. next month and have no clue where to begin. I'm already in the Universal area because my friend's pilot for her sitcom is being filmed that week which is why I'm going. But what other stuff should I do? I am planning on Mann's chinese theatre. But I really dont know much about L. A. i'm more of an NYC girl. Anyone from the area?
ok, you are in a great location right now. Manns chinese is ok, but is very touristy. Yea, its a blast driving around hollywood and seeing yoda and captain america and people from all walks of live taking pictures. Hollywood ave. is full of touristy shops and all that jazz. if thats your thing, great.
If I were you, depending on your tastes, heres what i would do.
GO to canters on fairfax for probably the most famous jewish deli in the world. Get the corn beef and matzo ball soup.
go see a show at the troubadour. its in west hollywood, a reall small 450 people venue that has GREAT shows.
You gotta do a whole lot of hollywood. Walk around Melrose. even if vintage shirts and head shops aint your thing, its still interesting to see. Plus you can get some really good deals.
Drive down sunset. GO to amoebea, the largest indepenedent music/video store in the world. they also have live performanes there. Right next to Amoebea is the arclight, the nicest public movie theaters. they are expensive, but well worth it. see jersey girl next week with me there!
Drive all the way down sunset and perhaps see a show at the world famous roxy, whisky or house of blues. Eat at the rainbow for a real "rock star" restauaunt. never been there, but heard its really good. plus lemmy from motorhead hangs out there.
theres a lot mroe but i gotta go. hit me up an email if you got any more questions.
