Not really an "where do ideas come from"esque question but more of a ...hey I know I'll just ask.
The plot/idea for Jersey Girl, its a bit tragic at its beginning. Was this a nightmare? Where you daydreaming about possible scenerios? Were you simply entertaining fears one day? Did you hear of someone faced with a similar problem and just put yourself in their shoes?
To what extent are YOU in the protagonist in the movie, and at what point does Ollie stray from how you would respond to the situation of being widowed? Did you talk it out first with Jen or a friend, or did you just go "well heck, that would suck, I wonder what I would do?" and just start writing out the scenerio in script form?
I guess if you could address some of this that would be interesting, I've always wondered.
