: I saw Jersey Girl at the premiere and thought it was terrific. Congratulations.
Thanks. Go see it nine more times. And tell your friends. And buy a theater out, "The
Christ"-style.
: You got some absolutely amazing performances out of your actors, and I'm giving YOU the
lion's share of credit for that.
You know I can't take that credit. It's not in my nature. The cast did the heavy lifting. I was
just the guy who pointed to where things should be placed.
: I didn't get a chance to say hi and congrats at the premiere party (what's with the
bodyguard goon squad?), but loved seeing your family & friends looking so happy.
You weren't alone. I was shoved out of the way by said same squad as I was talking to Liv,
and told to move along.
: I was curious about the marketing strategy for the film. (I know it's all Miramax, but figure
you're probably in on the decision, if not driving them.)
When you ass-ume.
: It feels like you're doing a ton of "sneak" previews. (It's amazing how many people on the
board have seen this thing, between test audiences a few months back and the spate of
showings across the last few weeks). Are you at all worried that everyone who wants to see
the film will have seen it already?
Of course. But I'm trusting a) hardcore fans will go back when it really opens, and b)
Miramax knows what it's doing. Because of those awareness screenings, the word-of-
mouth on the flick seems to be pretty strong. And in a post-"Gigli" world, that makes a
huge difference.
: Potential spoiler:
: I'm also curious about the choices you made in editing the Jennifer Lopez scenes. You've
talked in interviews about the scenes you took out (the wedding montage), but what was it
about the ones you left in that made you leave them in? (I was sad not to see the one we'd
heard where Ollie & Gertie are discussing Howard Stern, for example.)
I took that out because the last time I was on Stern, he was kind of an ass to me.
: Best of luck with the movie. I'm looking forward to seeing it -- AGAIN! (And bringing all
my friends and loved ones with me this time.)
There ya' go.
