In Reply to: Jake Gyllenhaal for 'Green Hornet'...?? posted by Brodie God on March 21, 2004 at 13:50:34:
I can only see a certain number of ways this could work-
1. Ageing make-up: Admittedly, this worked superbly for Marlon Brando in The Godfather and Orson Welles in Citizen Kane.
2. A prequel- Set in the twenties when his publsihing firm is starting out (Going by the origin post below)
3. The Zorro route- A kid learning the ropes from an original Hornet (George Clooney?!)
4. A new generation, working in a publisher's firm. Maybe have the Kato character be a co-worker (The pair on equal terms would be interesting)
This is probably the most likely one.
And if anyone doubts JG's credentials, he was Tobey Maguire's understudy for Spiderman!
: I tagged this from IMDB.com which I know isn't always the best and accurate source for information since it's always changing but I couldn't help but be interested. I haven't been around the board in a couple of days so forgive me if this has already been brought up.
: By the way, Donnie Darko kicked ass.
: "Jake Gyllenhaal is favorite to take the lead role in new movie The Green Hornet, after the Donnie Darko star held talks with director Kevin Smith. The 23-year-old is wanted by Smith to portray the comic book superhero, known as mild mannered newspaper publisher Britt Reid when he's not fighting crime. The Green Hornet was made into a TV series in the sixties, which famously starred kung-fu legend Bruce Lee."
