Bullshit. I think you are desperately trying to manage (lower)expectations so when the movie does better than anticipated you can scream that it is a success. That is quite a ingenious political move, but I think you are taking it a bit far. "Jersey Girl" is going to do GREAT this weekend. It may not beat some of the movies you mentioned, but it will beat most of them. This may sound cliche but I cant turn on a tv without seeing a commerical for the flick, the local papers have great articles about it, I see all sorts of things on the internet, and in talking to friends (who are not aware of how much of a fanboy I am) they have a favorable impression of the movie and are planning to see it.
Kevin, we have all seen the work that you have put into promoting the movie. In some of your interviews you seem nervous about how the flick is going to do. My guess is that I am reading you right. The bottom line is you have made a good movie (which should be enough), and most people that see it really like it (which should translate well at the box office.)
This is how I see it happening. If we, the traditional VA fan base, got you to $30 million ourselves, just think what all of us, plus all of those women (including my wife) that love Ben Affleck will do at the box office. You throw in a few more people who saw a commerical or preview who are attracted to the trailer, and you are starting to talk about serious money.
I guess I am just trying to say hang in there Kev. Everything is going to be ok.
