Cheesy they may be, cliched they may be, but I'm a girl and I love them. CHASING AMY is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I've been waiting desperately for Smitty to do something in a similar vein.
On the other hand, I respect artists who switch the style up all the time. You don't want to listen to a band that puts out the same album every time, when you could listen to Beck or Tori Amos, y'know? Why would you be interested in a writer/director that puts out the same type of movie every time?
For me, if I relate to an artist's perspective, I'm going to like what they're doing whether I like the particular genre they're working in or not. I don't know shit about harpsichord but Tori's BOYS FOR PELE is a great album. I can't stand violent action movies and don't care for martial arts stuff, but KILL BILL was fucking brilliant. Likewise, comic books aren't necessarily my thing but I'm sure I'll like GREEN HORNET.
You can't just listen to the same station...switch around, hear a little hip-hop, hear a little country. It's important.
