I think all the press is great. If people KNOW that they don't like some of the shows you're on, they shouldn't fucking watch them! It's not like you're forcing them to do it. You're just getting your name out there for the good of a film that you really care about. Makes me tired just looking at all you've been up to the past two weeks.
I can't wait for this Friday! I'm one of the few on the board who hasn't seen the flick yet, and the wife and I are really excited for it!
I've been a little worried that there aren't enough commercials on for it, because all I see is commercials for Ladykillers lately - but I told my mom if she wants to see a great movie this weekend, that she needs to drag my dad to Jersey Girl... and much to my surprise, she said she can't wait to see it and it looks really good. So, the commercials and press are getting to the right people - non-Kevin fans.
Also, I don't think it's bullshit that you're not worried about how much the film makes this weekend. If people remember, it's been all over the press that this is the most personal film you've made. When you care about something this much, I honestly believe that you're just happy that the people who do see it like it, and aren't as focused on how much dough your bringing in.
I'll be giving you $8.50 each from the wife and I this weekend, though.
Best of luck with Green Hornet. If it's true, I think the Jake G. call is a good one, from the limited knowledge of the character I have... and the good work he's done with some very different roles.
