: I was editing last night and crancked out my sound effects CDs. Then I noticed the CDs said that any commercial use of the sfx tracks is a violation of copyright law. Well this project I'm making...I do plan on making it available for the public to buy, so I guess that's "commercial" use.
: So what gives? Sfx CDs are only to buy and listen to, but you can't use them?

...that is, unless its something like the Hanna Barbera or the Warner Bros. stuff. How would you differentiate using these from using the ones that come with imovie, for example. T'ain't no copyright issues there.
Are there?
I agree. It's stupid. Unless the company in question could pick 'em out of a lineup, I'd use 'em.
How many truly distinctive door slams and rain sfxs can there really be?
Aiding and abetting,
